Designing with the street
Before drawing anything, the studio hosts an open evening for the surrounding block: what does this street need, what does it fear, what does it love about itself? The results shape rooflines, setbacks and even the placement of front porches. Projects that start this way, they've found, sail through permitting and gain neighbors who defend them.
